This book features the illustrations drawn by Liang Sicheng for "A Pictorial History of Chinese Architecture." The original artworks were donated by Mr. Lin Zhu to the National Library and were re-photographed by the library for this publication. The clarity and fidelity of these prints surpass those of the original 1946 edition published by MIT Press. In 1931, Liang Sicheng and his colleagues from the Chinese Institute of Architects began systematic studies of ancient Chinese architecture, gradually clarifying its developmental trajectory. In 1944, he completed the first draft of "History of Chinese Architecture" in Li Zhuang, Sichuan; two years later, he finished the English version of "A Pictorial History of Chinese Architecture." This illustrated work successfully combines rich illustrations with text, showcasing the unique charm of ancient Chinese architecture.
